Sri Lanka School of Agriculture, Labuduwa was started in 1994.
This institute have training farm, hostel, lecture hall, office etc.
Agriculture graduate and Diploma holders are in the staff.
Institutionalized agricultural education for middle level agriculturists was started in 1916 at the School of Tropical Agriculture, Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya. The school provided practical agricultural training for future agricultural instructors, headmen, teachers and students interested in agriculture. In 1941 it was relocated in Gannoruwa, in new buildings now occupied by the In-service Training Institute.
The Girl?s Farm School was inaugurated in 1948 at Kundasale, and in 1958 a second School of Agriculture was started on the same premises. The medium of instruction was Sinhala and Tamil. In 1966 the school in Peradeniya was amalgamated with the school at Kundasale.
Two more Schools of Agriculture for men only started in 1981 at Palwehera and Angunakolapelessa. In 1990 another School of Agriculture was started at Vavunia. Then 1994 five more Schools of Agriculture were started at Karapincha, Anuradhapura, Labuduwa, Wariyapola and Bibile. At present two years Diploma in Agriculture programme is conducted in the Schools of Agriculture (SOAA) Kundasale, Pelwehera, Angunakolapallassa, Vavunia, and Karapincha.One Year Practical Agriculture training Course is conducted in SOAA Anuradhapura, Labuduwa, Bibile and Wariyapola.
Mission
To provide formal intermediate agricultural education to farming interested youths and service personals through conducting one-year agricultural diploma programme for human resource development in agriculture sector for sustainable agricultural development.
